Starting on Thursday, Oct. 10, the City of El Dorado will implement a traffic control transition as part of the ongoing improvements on Central Avenue (US-54/K-254). Traffic on Main Street (US-77/US-54) will be detoured from the north at Sixth Avenue onto Vine Street, continuing to Locust Avenue, and back to Main Street. Vehicles entering from the south will follow this detour in reverse. This detour will be in place for approximately four weeks to allow contractors to install new waterlines, storm sewer pipes, inlets and pavement.
During this time, traffic on Central Avenue will be restricted to one lane in each direction (eastbound and westbound) from Star Street to Vine Street to accommodate construction activities. However, Downtown El Dorado will remain accessible via side streets, on-street parking and municipal parking lots throughout the area.
The City encourages motorists to follow posted detour signs and allow for extra travel time when passing through the affected area. The improvements are part of ongoing efforts to enhance the city’s infrastructure and ensure safer and more efficient roadways for all users.
