Experience El Dorado and the City of El Dorado are excited to bring ElDo Kids Week back for another year. Starting on Sunday, July 23, there will be a variety of fun activities and entertainment, all free for youth under the age of 18.
On Sunday, bring your kids out to the Farmers Market, held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at East Park, where they can decorate a flower pot and plant some flower seeds to take home. Be sure to check out the great items offered by the vendors while you are there.
Then on Monday there will be a Builders Club Competition at Bradford Memorial Library. There are two time slots: pre-K through third from 2 to 3:30 p.m. and fourth through eighth grades from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Youth can enter individually or in teams. Entries will be grouped as follows: Pre-K, K to third, fourth to sixth, and seventh to eighth. Patrons will judge the entries throughout the week and winners will be announced on July 28. Winners will receive a gift card to a local business. Building sets are limited.
On Tuesday there will be a day of STEM activities at the Kansas Oil Museum, along with the help of HF Sinclair. There will be a variety of activities and experiments to take part in from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Wednesday brings a chance to cool off with the free swim day at the El Dorado Pool. The pool will be open from 1 to 6 p.m.
The fun continues on Thursday with Art in the Park from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at East Park. Kids can participate in a number of art projects, as well as a one-mile color run so be sure to wear something you can get messy. This is sponsored by the City, Experience El Dorado, Timer Guys, Oz Events and Coutts Museum of Art.
The week concludes with a movie in the park beginning at 8:30 p.m. at Forest Park. We will be showing “Lyle Lyle Crocodile.” Be sure to bring chairs or blankets to get comfortable, some bug spray and your favorite drinks and snacks.
The City and Experience El Dorado greatly appreciate the support of the sponsors, who are helping to make this a fun and successful event for the kids.
