[ARCHIVED] Traffic Advisory: Central Avenue Intersection Closures Begin March 3

The City of El Dorado is announcing upcoming intersection closures along Central Avenue as part of the ongoing Central Avenue Improvements Project. Beginning Monday, March 3, 2025, construction crews will implement temporary closures of multiple northbound intersections to facilitate roadway and infrastructure improvements. These closures are expected to remain in place through midweek as work progresses.

Traffic Impacts & Detour Information

  • Northbound Intersection Closures: The intersections of Star Street, Washington Street, Taylor Street, and Denver Street will be closed to northbound traffic at Central Avenue.
  • Southbound Traffic Maintained: Central Avenue will remain open to southbound traffic, but motorists should anticipate delays and potential congestion in the work zone.
  • Local Access: Residents and businesses in the area should plan for alternate access routes during the closure period.
  • Detours & Alternate Routes: Motorists traveling northbound should use alternative routes such as Main Street and Griffith Street to bypass the affected intersections.

The Central Avenue Improvements Project is a vital infrastructure initiative aimed at enhancing road conditions, improving drainage, and upgrading utilities along one of El Dorado’s key corridors. The project is part of the city’s ongoing investment in transportation infrastructure to improve safety, mobility, and long-term durability.

The City appreciates the public’s patience and cooperation during construction. Motorists are encouraged to follow posted detour signage, allow extra travel time, and exercise caution in work zones.
